Le site de la WWE nous a rapporté que Chris Benoit, sa femme Nancy et leur fils de 7 ans, Daniel, ont été retrouvés sans vie par la police d'Atlanta à leur domicile.

Au début, la nouvelle apparue sur WWE.Com a vite été considérés comme faisant partie de la storyline de Vince McMahon, mais il sagit bien d'un décès réél. Le show de Raw de 3H qui devais avoir lieu a été annulé, les fans ont étés renvoyés a la maison et un Special 3H a été dedié a Chris Benoit. Notez aussi que Vince a annulé sa storyline.

Chris Benoit nous quitte a l'age de 40 ans...Un grand vide pour le monde du catch, et un grand merci pour cette superbe carriere.

Christopher Michael Benoît a vu le jour le 21 mai 1967 à Montréal au Québec. Il est malheureusement décédé trop jeune à l'âge de 40 ans, avec son épouse et son fils Daniel dans d'étrange circonstance à sa résidence d'Atlanta, le 25 juin 2007. Il était un des meilleurs lutteur Canadien de l'histoire. Il a travaillé pour la World Wrestling Entertainment, la WCW, la ECW et à travers le monde.

Benoit a grandi à Edmonton en Alberta, ou il s'est fait connaître comme un des meilleurs techniciens de la lutte professionnelle jusqu'à ce jour. Il s'est entraîné à Calgary en Alberta au “Dungeon” de Stu Hart tout comme les Bret et Owen Hart, Davey Boy Smith, Lance Storm, Chris Jericho, et autres.

Benoit a seulement eu deux gimmick majeurs dans sa carrière de près de 20 ans et les deux étaient basés fortement sur sa vie réelle. Mais peu importe son personnage, il demeurait une machine de lutte impitoyable – un homme qui connaissait toutes les prises, projection, et chaque renversement- et qui faisait tout pour gagner ses combats. Il avait très peu de catchphrases, préférant laisser son talent parler par lui-même.

En tant que "heel", les seules joies de Benoit étaient de gagner ses combats et d'infliger la douleur. Il était extrêmement dangereux, et a souvent servi de « tueur à gages » pour les autres qui avaient besoin de gagner.

Comme "face", Benoit était sans merci et un grand travaillant, il personnifiait celui qui a travaillé des années et tout sacrifié pour devenir le meilleur dans ce qu'il fait. Il fut souvent oublié par la direction qui aimait mieux choisir ses propres champions, l'obligeant à travailler encore plus fort pour se faire remarquer et se rendre au sommet.

Chaque fois que Chris Benoit montait dans le ring, c'était avec une seule idée en tête, être le meilleur. Le "Rabid Wolverine" était le maître du ring, un excellent technicien et un expert des prises de soumissions. Ce n'est pas pour rien qu'il aimait s'appeler et se faire appeler : "the best technical wrestler in the world."

Nancy Benoit - RIP
La femme de Chris Benoit, Nancy Benoit nous a elle aussi quitté. Elle a longuement managé les catcheurs. Nancy avait quitté un lutteur pour Chris Benoit avec qui elle s'est mariée et a eu cet enfant aujourdhui mort, Daniel Benoit. RIP

Members of the Hart family wrestled with the sudden, tragic death of Chris Benoit yesterday.

Legendary wrestler Bret Hart had to stop and compose himself often when talking fondly of a man considered his brother and friend.

"I don't know the details, and I'm not sure I even want to know," said Hart, just hours after learning of the discovery of Benoit's body -- along with those of his wife and son -- in his suburban Atlanta home.

"He was like a family member to me, and everyone in my family is taking it real hard.

"It's almost like reliving the whole Owen (Hart) death over again."

At a young age, Benoit, an Edmonton native, became a standout among many wrestling prospects who trained in the famed 'dungeon' basement of the Hart family's home in Calgary.

"Chris was always one of the good guys -- a straight guy and a hard-working guy," Hart said.

"When you list off all the qualities of someone like Benoit, he had a lot of integrity and was a good, family man.

"He was really respected and really loved by everybody."

Bret's older brother Ross Hart, a producer and former part-time wrestler, further described the onetime 'Canadian Crippler' as respectful, polite and very humble.

"We kind of adopted him when he first broke into the business in 1986," said Ross, adding Benoit was a huge fan of Stampede Wrestling and idolized The Dynamite Kid.

He's been an outstanding mentor to the next generation of Hart family wrestlers, said Ross and Bret's sister Diana.

That's especially true of the last six months in Atlanta, where Harry Smith (son of the late Davey Boy Smith), Nattie Neidhart (daughter of Jim Neidhart), T.J. Wilson (Nattie Neidhart's fiance) and Ted Hart (Ross' nephew) had been training close to Benoit.

"My son Harry and the others have all been talking about all the great plans that were to come with Chris mentoring them," said Diana, the former wife of Davey Boy Smith
